my theory is not new - it's acctually been said.
i always thought that birth control is the best way to keep population growth low and achieve economic development.
i have changed my mind - if I do not have kids or only one kid and every other well educated person in egypt has only one kid - while the bawaab ( concierge) and the guy who picks up the trash keep on having 1/2 a dozzen kids then then there's no way the can achieve any growth!
so the key is - we should have a lot of kids who can work and be good productive citizens of the community.
so 2 things:
if i am president i will set a limit of every couple depending on thier income and wealth! wealthy couples with a collgege degree can have as many kids as they want - the bawaab can only have one!
the second thing is - i think i may even have kids myself . if i can't be president, i will give birth to one. i can give birth to 3 or 4 well educated change agents that would do something good in their life
so i won't get all the glory, but who cares! as long as the work gets done!

New Years Resolutions
Here goes!
Now the Regulars for each year are:
- Lose Weight
- Work out
- look better
- work my ass out
Now to a brand new entry!!
- take kick boxing class
AND for the FIRST Time Ever!!
i will leave the option of falling in love open! - that does not mean that my resolution is falling in love - it is that if an opportunity comes along i will try my best to let it happen.
and...
oh and i have to be nicer to my grandma

Scary experience
so i went to see Alexadner the other day - which was CRAP!
and the movie finishes at 1:40 AM!! such a long movie.
on the way home some dude in a cherokee kept following me n my sys home tying to pick us up!
yes, i PROUDLY live in a country where girls who go home at 2 am in winter are automatically thought of as prostitutes!
so he keeps follwoing us and my sister can't loose him! meh if i were driving i betcha i could have tricked him but my sis is way to innocent to do that.
so we finally fool him when we turn right to my place - i give him the finger ( well i HAD to! he was an ass)
then he followes us somehow again and blocks the entry to the garage and comes out of his car and bangs on our windows.
and tradadadaaaaaaaaaaaaa my bro to the rescue! i called him he came out of the house, made the guy drive away - and the sun shines again!
so i am now actively looking for how to make pepper sray - so i can defend myself.
my brother';s friend has that electric shock thing - which is SO cool! but it's too expensive

cairo experience
walking out of my house in the morning after a huge fight with my parents about going to cairo on that day i kept cursing and was fuming mad at my parents for everything.
in cairo we went and visited the Cancer Institute - where children who suffer from cancer are placed.
That's when you see how lucky you are - healthy, with a roof on your head, and you can afford treatment if anything bad happens, and you have a family.
Being completely cold during this 2 hour experience made me look bad to the other half a dozzen girls whose eyes teared up every 5 minutes. But that was beacuse i was seeing things with my mind not with my heart.
2 resolutions:
1) I am a lucky person - thank god for that
2) something needs to change in this country
at the end of that day we started talking about the state of the world presentations we always get in our first natconf in AIESEC - and this was the real version of it. in 30 minutes we were wandering in the Grand Hyatt Hotel looking for celebrities in a stinking rich place, which luckily most of us got to spend a couple of nights there before. then we moved on to the tragic part of the presentation - real life hits you.
On the way home everyone called their parents - and i sent mine an i love you sms - which this morning was not an option.
One last observation - the private and the public parts of the hospital were exactly opposite to oneanother , with stricking differences.
My pure capitalist views disregard that - we cannot dicriminate against the rich in favor for the poor.
but then again i cannot be heartless, we can surely help the poor get better services.
It all boils down to politics

genious or retard?!
I got some stuff in my blog working after 2.5 hours!
Genious : i got them right!
Retard: I got them after 2.5 hours!
Can't believe i am a senior! i.e. this is the final new year's eve i will spend studying!
Next Chrsitmas i may even have the day off!!
Next Week i am going to go get my voting card! i have decidednot to wait for anyone and do it myslef.
Exciting huh?
kenny and I want to start a website to encourage people to vote in 2005!
though it is doubtfull that it would change a thing we have a theory
If i do not vote then i abstain from my right - so i cannot complain on how the results are like.
If i DO vote - i have practiced my right - and if it is not heard i can now complain. Ofcourse the complaining phase and demanding a change will not happen anytime soon!
We have also come up with a pay-it-forward kind of system, where if each one of us convinced 10 to vote and these 10 convince 5 others and these 5 convince 5 more etc maybe officials will see that something wrong is happeing when the Nos have become so much more.
In the Election system in egypt we have a referrendum for those who do not know. Parliament selects one person and then a referendum is held, if this person gets a No then pariliament chooses another person and another eferendum is held.
What makes us so sure that the people we'll tell will say no?
Nothing - i have met in my discussions people who think that we cannot be governed in another way, we are born not to be lead but to be herded like a herd of cattle.
Others say change is necessary.
You know the Quote " the only think in life that is constant is Change"?
Well not in this country!!
"the only thing in like that is constant is MUBARAK"
hurrayy for that!

fahrenheit 9/11
some movie!
saw it today - got me thinking.
it is kind of a sad movie coz it shows how one man can cause the death and suffering of so many people.
the film is completely one sided- and i really do not think bush is that smart to plan smth like dat - also it's a bit far fetched even for a james bond movie or even for adham in ragol el mostaheel ( Mr. impossible - for all u non-egyptians out there - series of 007-like adventures where the hero gets shot 6 times and falls from the 10 floor and still manages to come out alive and runs out to save the damsel in distress he is madly in love with)
but it still got me thinking! i cried twice in the movie - when an iraki woman was crying over her family and when an american woman was crying over her son!
they stand on opposite fronts - yet face the same destiny - attending their own son's funeral! something i would never wish for my enemy!
and the same question arrises - why? whats the cause? its that cause worth all those shattered lives? is there no peaceful solution? wasn't it one of the world's greatest political leaders that said "peace cannot be achieved by foce, it can only be achieved by understanding"
another thing about the movie - life in irak was not as rosy as it was depicted! comon be realistic!
here's a question: are the western countries trying to make the rest of the world civilized or westernized?
who said that checks and banalces is the right way to go? democracy does not work in every country! and certainly not in a country that got no preparation for it.
in the US in the past there were restrictions for people who could vote - income and education were factors, so that the right people can have a say! who would want a simple peasent ruling?!
in some countries democracy just doesn't cut it! what about russo's "social contract" ( it was russo whasn't it?)?! that was a thought - we sign a contract we give up this for you and you do this for us!
playing devil's advocate here ( which i happen to do alot nowadays) which country is better off? who's people are not starving and who has the least illiteracy rate!! their way must be the right way if they are so successful!
not to get too carried away here
the film was funny - one sided - not credible at all - but got me crying, got me screaming and most importantly got me thinking
on that note - i have to mention how frustrated i feel for wearing bras and not boxers! then who knows i could have at least been able to dream about being president one day and change lives!
for now i can't even dare to dream

It's good to be an LCP
broadcasting live from IC still!
the conference is going well sofar - as far as the agenda is going it is not quite challenging at ALL! i thought it will be MUCH more of a challenge. as far as the logistics are going it's SHIT!! we have to walk for 20 mins to get to our hotel - the last few days i took a taxi coz my back is alawys fucked in the morning - talk about expenses!!
as far as the food is going it got ALOT better now - i stopped snacking and stoped drinking coke like i used to - i drink loads of water all the time. so i feel a bit healthier now.
as for the networking - i have talked to quite a few LCPs who were awesome! i made some nice friends i am more relaxed now and enjoying talking to LCPs, and some of them are is shittier situations than i am
as for fun - there's a whole lot of it! i have SO many AIESEC T-shirts now which is excelent. the parties are awesome so that's that!
that's all for now

Goodbye Alex - Hello Germany
my last night in alex has been special.
i spent it with my friends then went to say bye to the remaining salaam trainees.
i said bye to my good friend kait - as you can see kait is no longer just a trainee for me - i will miss her dearly, she's one of the reasons my summer has been one of the best sofar!
i think she is for sure one of my favorite americans on earth! i know for sure though that i will see her again, afterall the US now is in my life plan, and kait, you're my no. one visitor there.
so as i prepare to leave to germany -insha2allah (there i said it,happy mom?)
i just realize how excited i am - for 14 years of my life germany and german has been part of my daily life. i learned the german map before i learned the eyptian map - i have studdied germany history and lit 10 more than my own country's! i am not saying it is good or bad, i am just saying i am glad i will acctually set foot there after 2 pervious failing attempts to get there.
The fact that i am going to the biggest AIESEC conference in the world does not excite me half as much as the fact that it is IN germany - with all of this i am finding it hard to sleep - and i have never felt like this about a trip before - i have always been so casual about it.
it has also made me realize how much i miss speaking german - how i love it - and how much i owe my school and my education that made me the person i am today and funnily that made me the AIESECer i am today!
I am also hopefully seeing "Brandy" - Herr Brandt - my Physics and Maths teacher from school - though i fear his cmments about my deteriorationg german ( hey he's a teacher that's his job) i am happy about seeing him and remembering the days on school - which weren't the best days - but i still long for them.

A guy with the heart of gold!
so we are eating ice cream and nassef has this big ice cream with brownies then fudge ice cream then whipped cream then cherries.
we drive past an adorable yet utterly dirty 2 year old kid standing on the front of a car. Nassef goes on about how adorable he is - then he parks the car goes and feeds him his ice cream then leaves it to the kid and his brother.
How cute and adorable is that!
FYI nassef is one of the guys who would make you puzzled as to how come he has not had 100 girlfriends!
he's the only guy i know that would do such a sweet thing! hell i'd never do such a sweet thing not to mention for a KID!!

beginnings are scary, endings are sad, but it is what's in the middle that counts
they say the beauty of AIESEC is that it ends! but at endings you really don't feel that.
Leila just left - and driving home from the station i knew i was gona miss her terribly, and the thought of coming back to her empty room brought me to tears.
This summer is a fun one, but also a very hard one - and if i do not go to germany it will be one of the hardest, coz then i will be soo alone.
I do not think i could have made it through the summer without leila and her support and help.
i hardly ever cry when someone leaves - like with gosia and leila are the only ones i can remember.
So thank you UK for sending her - and thank you leila for being such a genuinely nice and sweet and good friend!

i hardly ever cry when someone leaves - like with gosia and leila are the only ones i can remember.
So thank you UK for sending her - and thank you leila for being such a genuinely nice and sweet and good friend!

I am too young for this
yes! i am too young! but still! shit happnes
turns out those yucky back aches are a bit serious! since feb i had em but not very severe. after korea things exploded.
went to the doc - and i have a mini case of disc, one of the discs in my spine has moved, making every move quite painful.
now it's no big deal like i can beat it easily except i have to so do 3 things i hate the most
1) rest at home - if you know me you know i use the house for food and sleep - well not even food i eat out all the time
2) loose weight - if you really know me or if you just know of me you'll understand that McDonald's profits will really suffer from this as a consequence
3) work out - with the two universities and being president and hopefully i hope i hope chair the Exchange Quality Board (i wana apply for it.) and keeping up a social life the 24 hours in the day are just not enough!
on the good side i will be healthier and thinner! so all you HOT guys out there BEWARE!! :D
so now i am in bed resting with the computer set up in front of me - with the sole possession of 3 remote controls (TV Cable and CD player) the phone - my mobile and ofcourse the HR Process and HR PLanning Gude for the Member Develpment Process , and a notebook tro design a MEC! how ideal?
apparently it was the bag in korea that fucked my back coz i hat stupid egyptian food with me. so thank you korea!!
somone told me to put my pics on ofoto so everyone can see it. this makes perfectly good sense. my brother has it , all of AIESEC USA uses it so how come i never thought of it?
turns out i am not that smart
i will put a link on the side!
leila is leaving - will miss her lvery much - i have an empty room in my house which makes me miss my bro even more.
i am now REALLY excited about germany - too bad i got no ticket yet! those bastards at the travel agency!

My country is better than yours, damn right, it's better than yours
we all keep saying cultures are different not better, not worse - and different cultures are found in countries.
But do we really believe that? do we really think our country is not better than any other country?
when you love something you think it is the best thing - when you love a person you think he's the best person on earth - it seems only natural that you love your country therefore think it is the best.
but do how do you love your country when it rips you off, is stealing from you, does not support you? kills you like Irak kills its people - steals from you like many african countries do - or sends you to a war where there is zero benefit to you like the US, the UK and many other countries do.
you see other places better. but you notice all countries have something which you can complain about - somethings bother you more somethings bother you less.
The American Dream claims that you should go somewhere where the grass is greener - the pilgrims did it, and so did most of the americans till recent times. But if we all apply this theory everyone will move to the better place - and the original place is left abandoned - soon the better place becomes a worse place and people start to look for another better place. This means we're always on the move, and you loose all ties with your family your place and your home. like we say you can never really go back home again?
it's a choice that each one has to make - and as everyone is free to choose ( in some countries more than others) one should not be penelized for this choice - neither by his place of origin nor place of destination.
In theory this seems acceptable - at least to me - but in practice you'll still find people saying implicitly or explicitly:
my country is better than yours, damn right, it's better than yours.
can't people just be loyal to earth in general? coz you can't really say that my earth is better than yours? - unless you're talking to a marsian! lol

Good Ol' Egypt
i had the best experience seeing the efficiency of the egyptian police system.
my moms wallet got snatched - with my driver's lisence in it. so i had to go file a report and make 3 copies of it.
the brilliance of the Egyptian government is that police stations have no copmuters - so making 3 copies involved a poor man writing them 3 times and getting them signed by half a dozen people 3 times!
funny - we spend 1 billion over some museum in fayoum ( like how many people set foot in fayoum??) but we have no computers in police stations
speaking of driver's lisence - i got into this discussion with leila. it is a driver's lisence or a driving lisence?!they both make sense to me
